Law Union & Rock Insurance began operations in Nigeria in 1951 as the Chief Agency of Royal International Insurance Holding and started transacting all major classes of insurance business by 1957. In 2004, Prudent Bank Plc (one of the legacy banks that formed the Skye Bank Group) acquired a majority equity stake in the Company. By 2007, Skye Bank Plc held a 51.95% equity stake at Law Union and Rock.
